Yong Kim

In 1996 or 1997, Stephanie and Sharon were two of my participants in my first human behavior experiment for a school science project. Essentially, my first house-call was at 800 S. Bouziden. I showed clips of graphically violent movie scenes to elicit and measure autonomic responses of heart rate and blood pressure. I don't recall if I had ever shared, but I was a bit nervous because much of the material was rated R and wasn't certain if I would offend Sharon, whom I sometimes lovingly and discreetly referred to as "Dragon Lady." The science project was awarded 2nd place...

As high school sophomores, Stephanie and I buried a time capsule, made of a shoebox wrapped in a plastic bag (economical weatherproofing), of personal photos, video, and memorabilia behind the house inside the ground of the Highland East football field. Senior year, we went to excavate. It was never found. Somewhere out in the community, someone has a box full of weird items from a couple of strange teenagers...

I once gifted Stephanie a juvenile monkey-in-a-cage toy for Christmas.  I could tell she thought it was somehow inappropriate or inexplicably out of context but I was amused to think that it would be in that house forever...

Love always,

Dr. Yong H. Kim, PsyD
